The University of the United Kingdom, also called the University of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, is one of the highest level university groups in the world for teaching and research. British universities have royal charters, pope scripts and parliamentary bills, and are filed with the British Privy Council. The British government requires only these institutions to award degrees.
As of 2016, there are 163 public higher education institutions in the UK. According to the 2016 QS World University Rankings, a total of 10 British universities have entered the top 50 of the world, 18 British universities have entered the top 100 in the world, and 30 British universities have entered the top 200 in the world.
British universities are independent and autonomous institutions. Although their main funding is funded by the UK Higher Education Funding Committee, they are not under the jurisdiction and control of any government department. They have the privilege of a royal charter or a parliamentary bill, and they can decide for themselves the students they take and the staff they recruit. But now the government has begun to intervene in some aspects, for example, university funding is strictly regulated by the government.
In addition, the UK currently has multiple versions of the university rankings, including the official level of research (REF) rankings published every seven years or so, as well as the UK university rankings published by the Times, The Guardian, and the Independent.
Among the top 10 universities in the UK's Table of Tables, Times, Guardian, and CUG rankings are: Cambridge, Oxford, Imperial College, University College London, Loughborough University, St. Andrews University, Durham University, Warwick University, Lancaster University.
Bachelor's degree
(Bachelor Degree) which is gained after graduation, there are many bachelor's degrees in the UK, the following are common:
BA-Bachelor of Art
Bachelor of Science (BSc-Bachelor of Science)
Bachelor of Engineering (BEng-Bachelor of Engineering)
Bachelor of Law (LLB)
Generally speaking, "ART" refers to language, literature and art majors, "SCIENCE" refers to academic studies majors such as natural sciences and social sciences, and "Engineering" refers to practical applications such as manufacturing, construction, environmental protection and technology related majors. In the UK, the concepts of culture and chemistry are different from those in China. For example, Chinese universities divide the disciplines of finance and accounting into liberal arts categories, and the famous London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) classifies these disciplines as science. The study of accounting as a science shows the rigour of British study.
There is also a " Honours " in the bachelor's degree, which is a higher degree than an ordinary bachelor's degree. Most university honours degrees only require three years of study, but are slightly higher in depth and difficulty than a general bachelor's degree. Some of the majors in some universities require a three-year bachelor's degree and an honours degree in one year.
